I had a cheat day last week when I went out with friends to a show and all the food was carby. I had grapes, mini-beef wellingtons, chicken with teriyaki sauce, 1/2 a brownie, and a beer. Here's what happened:
1) My weight went up 4 pounds. I estimate 2 of the pounds were glycogen stores replenishing, so 2 were real pounds.
2) My fasting blood sugar went up 25 points.
3) My blood ketones dropped from my standard 0.3 to 0.1.
4) I felt more tired than normal.
5) My blood pressure went up
It took 4 days for my blood sugar and blood ketone level to get back to normal.
It took 5 days for my energy levels to get back to normal.
It took 6 days for my blood pressure to go back down to normal
It took 8 days for my weight to recover back to what it was.
It feels good to be back to normal.
